Isabella Court Downham Market Norfolk
A former industrial area near the railway station has been given a new lease of life and by working with the planners we were able to secure change of use on the land. It was identified as having potential within a mixed-use area and utilising our planning expertise we were able to achieve a planning gain and create best value for the site.
After a break in tenancy we arranged for the clearing of the brownfield site and the dismantling of the 8,000sqft industrial building which stood on the site, we achieved planning permission for the construction of 11 new 2/3 bedroom apartments, designed to fit in with the towns overriding Carstone architectural style. Six properties were sold and 5 retained within our investment portfolio.
Small Select Developments
Beechwood has built many smaller developments in Cambridge and some of its more popular surrounding necklace villages. Each scheme has been unique in its planning and construction requirements, some involved new build and many benefited from sympathetic renovation. All the residential developments were sold “off plan” or soon after completion.
Newnham – Cambridge
As one of Cambridge’s most desirable residential areas, this development of nine 3 bedroom terraces houses required a scheme which was totally sympathetic to the architectural style and character of the surrounding streets. The land, purchased at Allsop auctions, was highly unusual as it was a parcel of land owned by Cambridgeshire County Council in a location within the Cambridge City Council boundaries.
After meticulous planning our team was able to demonstrate to planners and residents that a traditionally styled Cambridge terrace with slate roofed houses and stone cills would be a fitting enhancement to the site. New homeowners too were impressed by the development and all were sold soon after completion.
